The EartH2O Program’s parent company Serves S.A. was founded 7 years ago to fill the need for commerce that provides equity for locals, partners with nature, and improve business in semi rural Guanacaste. Since it’s inception Served S.A. launched The EartH2O Program… and we’ve been busy working to close the loop, increase our impact, and lower our footprint…
We’ve installed efficient water recovery systems in over 90 homes and public schools saving nearly 50% of the typical water consumption for each site treated. Inspired by the design and installation at a local school during the Green Energy Program, alum Adam Dillinger sought out Costa Rican building code engineers. Adam’s actions are largely responsible for Served S.A. rainwater recovery systems design being incorporated into Costa Rican building code.
Guanacaste is a source of some of the healthiest ground water on the planet. We’ve given residency to a former student to produce microbrews that are on tap in local bars and hotels. While, the spent grain and excess yeast are used for agricultural purpose on our the livestock farm adjacent to the our head quarters.
We’ve partnered with local a farmers who run the livestock operation. The farmer produces fresh milk, cheese and methane gas for the eco-lodge on the property. We’ve also designed and installed the farm’s anaerobic digester that produces the methane gas.
New construction notoriously has a tremendous energy load and CO2 contribution. We’ve patented several building innovations for lightweight, low energy processes in creating seismically sound structural framing, window, doors, walls that are built and being built at our head quarters.
Served S.A. launched The EartH2O Program to multiply leadership development in our students. 900 students later it’s proven to have a lasting impact on students’ career choices, as well as their comprehension of sustainable development limits and pathways. Our faculty are all passionate and experienced educators, green entrepreneurs, energy technicians, engineers, and policy makers. This is not just another study abroad program. The EartH2O program is on a mission to improve our world by inspiring the minds who inherit it.
We are in this together. Join us for the education adventure of a lifetime.
